Lolita is such a classic, that it's hard to know where to begin with it. Nobody writes with quite the wit and playfulness of Vladimir Nabokov (English wasn't even his first language!) and if you don't feel too touchy about the subject, the book is certainly worth reading. I watched the Stanley Kubrick version of Lolita awhile ago but I think I prefer the newest version, directed by Adrian Lyne. It's quite an intense film, but so beautifully shot.

nabokov is a genuis. have you by any chance read 'speak, memory?' xx
I'm probably the minority that hasn't seen this film before. It looks really good- the photos you posted helped with that decision;)
i've been meaning to read that. i think i'll read it and then see the newer movie, thanks for the tip.
The first Lolita is my favorite, something about the time it was filmed.
it's so strange that i see past the man&child aspect and i all i see is a beautiful heartbreaking love story..
these stills are gorgeous. i have steered clear of lolita, because of the somewhat abhorrent subject matter, but i think i'll have to check it out after your post.
