That Time of Year

Last minute present wrapping, apricot and white chocolate cookies, brown paper and dreaming of (extremely unlikely) snowflakes in sunny Melbourne weather. Also, an early Christmas present from someone deer (bad pun intended).

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! Thank you all for reading this year, and in particular the lovely ladies whose comments always put a smile on my face (thank you Danica, Hila, Alice, Jimena, Mila, Katrina and Erica. Yikes, I hope I'm not forgetting anybody...please remind me if I am!) I'm off to the beachside for a few days now. What are your plans?

Last Minute Christmas Wishlist

I tried, but I just couldn't resist making a little Christmas wishlist.

A bunny rabbit light! For some reason this one from SKK Lighting keeps popping up on the net.

Hayao Miyazaki Collection box set
. This man is a complete genius. (I think I'll post about him soon!)

Comfy organic t-shirts from Belle & Dean and quirky jewellry from Digby & Iona.

A Yoshitomo Nara clock to help wake up my sleepyhead.

Lovely journals and notepaper from O-Check Design Graphics.

Other things I wouldn't say no to: delicious chai lattes, a walk with the snow crunching under foot, some sort of miracle shampoo to tame my wild hair, mountains of books and a one-way ticket to Kyoto to see the last of the Autumn leaves. Though I guess now I'm just being greedy. What are you wishing for this year?

Jane Campion

The other week I finally got to see 'Sweetie'- Jane Campion's first film. Her films always strike a chord with me, and are often a little disturbing or strange. 'Sweetie' was no exception. Jane Campion is probably most well known for her film 'The Piano' where she manages to create an entirely different and haunting world altogether.

Sweetie (1989):

The Piano (1993):

Apologies as always for the lack of posts. As far as weeks go, it's been a pretty terrible one for me (I'll spare you the depressing details) but I'm optimistic that things will get better soon. Hope you are all well and ready for some Christmas madness. :)

Aya Takano

"Aya Takano uses acrylic and diluted gouache paints to create fictional, erotic, and sullen images featuring thin, big-eyed Geisha girls– there’s a taste of sex, sadness, and the future all at once. "

Naive

The other day I found a wonderful little blog, 'Notes by Naive'. Plenty of photographs of cosy cafes, delicious meals and one girl's documentation of her travels and wanderings which are captured beautifully in small details and moments. Her latest post is on mouth-watering Chinatown cakes which makes me want to go out and buy one right this minute.

Visit here.

Hello Again

Hello again fellow Internet wanderers, I have missed you! I won't lie, school has been hard and trying to figure out my future plans are even worse! Things are just starting to slow down a little and it's nice to sit at home sipping (honeydew!) tea and dreaming up some new adventures.

These beautiful rooms and funny little houses seem like the perfect place to escape to once in awhile, provided you don't have a fear of heights...

How are you all? :)

Unicorns and Swans

Awhile ago I made a post about the wonderful tigerlily and you've probably all seen her beautiful pictures by now. She is one of my favourites, and now she has a blog too: The Unicorn Diaries.

Apologies for neglecting this place again, the end of the year always seems to be so hectic. I'll probably need to take a little break from blogging and I'm awfully sorry for the lack of comments on your posts. Hopefully you can bear with me and thank you all so much for your thoughts and words. I'll be back soon, please take care till then. :)

Audrey

It is cold and dreary outside and everything is done for the day. I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon hiding under the covers, eating dark chocolate and finishing some of the books I've started. Oh, and here are some lovely pictures of Audrey that I found on my computer. Perhaps I will watch Roman Holiday too....

Happy Halloween

I'm rather sad that the past few years (and this year) I've missed out on climbing into a costume and demanding candy from strangers because I've had to work at night. Do you celebrate Halloween? Are you dressing up? Either way, I hope you all have a wonderfully creepy time.

Jessica Williams

One of my favourite people on flickr is Jessica Williams. She manages to capture everyday moments in a special way, even if it's just a ray of light coming in through a window.

October 23, 2008

So I'm tired again after a rather long week, and dreaming of freshly laundered sheets and deep sleeps (and never having to look at another textbook again!). Things that have kept me going this week include banana muffins hot out of the oven, bubble tea, discovering perfect summer dresses among stacks of old clothes, listening to Fleet Foxes and Seabear late at night, watching too many movies, fluffy culumus clouds and travel plans despite lack of funds and time...

Interiors 2.

Another one of my favourites from the Interiors section, this home belongs to photographers Karen Inderbitzen-Waller and Christopher Abbott. It looks like the perfect cosy place to have an afternoon cup of tea and makes me feel better about my own hoarding tendencies.
