Howl's Moving Castle
My Neighbour Totoro
Princess Mononoke
Hayao Miyazaki is nothing short of a genius to me. His films are so completely unique, complex and beautiful. Not to mention the gentle humour and playfulness that works so well. My Neighbour Totoro never fails to help cheer me up.
On another note, I'm sorry if my posts are few and far between. I've got a few things going on at the moment and sadly blogging falls to the bottom of the list. I'm still reading as always. :)

i have childhood trauma resulting from my neighbour totoro. i don't know why, but that film upsets the child in me. i think i may have to watch it again as an adult. lovely film stills :)

Young Mind: It's an amazing film, and you should certainly see the others if you get a chance! :)

Jennifer: I really can't wait to see Ponyo, need to hunt down a copy! Did you enjoy it?
Tee tee: Those ones are great too! Especially Nausicaa! And thank you. :)
Danica: Haha, that's so funny. I guess it would be a little scary as a child but hopefully not quite as terrifying as an adult! :)
Make It Easy: The Cat Returns is great! I watched it recently. I still haven't seen Ponyo though and really want to soon!

Yesterday I watched howl's with lots of hot chocolate. I had a bad day and it made me feel a lot better.

I just saw Howl's Moving Castle recently. Brilliant film.
Great blog x
what a lovely post of those films, and such a beautiful description of miyazaki's genius. i really love the depiction of nature in his films. thanks as always for a beautiful and thoughtful post.
He's just so...PERFECT.
I saw Spirited Away at a young age and have been influenced by it since then. And now I love all his movies. My favorite is Howl. Joe Hisaishi is also the most amazing composer in the world.
I've been away far too long and missed a lot of your wonderful posts, including and especially this one.
I LOVE Hayao Miyazaki movies. They are always different, but most importantly he never fails to create strong, original and non-stereotyped female characters.
I just saw Ponyo the other (in Japanese with subtitles) and I was still completely amazed at how he was able to create such magical world and characters that are as charming for their quirks as they are in their simplicity.
I think my favorite is still Princess Mononoke, though. Although I would have a hard time to decide no matter what.
I hope you have a woderful day, dear!
