Two English Girls

A good film to watch on a rainy day which includes a house by the sea, bike rides, pretty dresses and Jean-Pierre Laud (I can't help but think of him as Antoine Doinel still).

Soup Season

A bit of an avalanche of pictures I have collected. It has been raining the whole day, which I guess has put me in the mood for colder weather. Can’t wait for perfect Autumn leaves pressed into books, knitted oatmeal jumpers with deep pockets, pink cheeks, warm banana muffins, mugs of hot liquid, and falling asleep on the train home wrapped up in layers. Though I guess snow is still out of the question!

What's your favourite season?

Come Home

Some nice things arrived in the mail last week just in time to make a crummy day a little better. This magazine is so lovely to flip through, there are even recipes, craft instructions and a guide for building a bookshelf! If anyone is interested I can scan some pages ( though see previous note on my grumpy scanner).

I'm off to enjoy some of the Autumn sunshine now, and make some chicken noodles for lunch!

Living Shelter

The 'Handmade Houses' series of books are wonderful, and full of amazing homes that people have built themselves. These pictures are from the book 'Living Shelter: Handmade Houses in Australia' and include a unique domed house made from shingles.

I'll eventually post some more if my scanner feels like helping me!

Closet Tales

I recently picked up a copy of The Australian Closet Tales of Fashion, an insightful documentary about four well-known Australian fashion designers. My favourite episodes were definitely the ones on Akira and Lover. It was very inspiring to see how they went about the design process (which is something I've always found interesting, being the nosy person I am).

Akira:

Lover:

Lover makes such wearable yet pretty clothes, and I half fell in love with Akira, he came off as such a modest and humble person with a real quirky sense of humour.

Easter

Easter weekend- reading and general nesting in my cosy nook, a trip to the beach (I marvelled at an elaborate mermaid someone had made with seaweed hair, stones for eyes and lots of tiny little shells for the tail), bike riding and eating of chocolate. My little Lindt bunny is almost gone now.

Hope you all had a lovely Easter, what did you get up to?

Fumi

One of my favourite artists is the amazing Fumi Nakamura. I am constantly astonished by the detail, beauty and emotion in all her work. She also draws cute cartoons and little comics. To see more you can visit her lovely website.

(I almost forgot to mention that she has a pet chinchilla! So sweet.)
